Analysis of key structural components of vertical semi submersible long shaft sewage collection pit pump: precise design from impeller to seal

The excellent performance of the vertical semi submersible long shaft sewage collection pit pump is not due to a single component, but rather the result of the collaborative action of multiple precision designed structural components. The core components of the vertical semi submersible long shaft sewage collection pit pump include impeller, pump shaft, pump body, mechanical seal, liquid seal (V-ring), and motor, each of which has been specially optimized for the harsh characteristics of the sewage medium.
The impeller is the "heart" of the pump, and its design directly determines the pump's throughput capacity and efficiency. To address the common presence of fibers, hair, plastic debris, and solid particles with a diameter of up to 50% of the pump diameter in sewage, vertical submersible long axis sewage pumps commonly use single or double channel impeller structures instead of traditional multi blade designs. This type of flow channel impeller resembles a uniformly curved pipe with an extremely wide flow channel, which can effectively avoid fiber entanglement and particle blockage, achieving the goal of "anti entanglement and no blockage" operation. Some models adopt a single blade or double blade design, further simplifying the structure and improving the passing capacity, allowing for smooth passage of fiber materials up to 5 times the pump diameter. To ensure stability during high-speed rotation, the impeller must undergo strict dynamic and static balance tests to minimize operational vibration and noise.
As the transmission core connecting the motor and impeller, the material and accuracy of the pump shaft are crucial. To ensure stable operation in corrosive media for a long time, the pump shaft is usually made of stainless steel or corrosion-resistant alloy, and the concentricity with the motor shaft is ensured through precision machining, with a deviation usually controlled within 0.5mm. Some new models (such as integrated injection molding) have eliminated traditional couplings and adopted integrated stainless steel motor shafts, which not only improve transmission efficiency but also reduce potential failure points and noise.
The pump body is the main structure that accommodates the impeller, pump shaft, and forms a flow channel, and its material selection is directly related to the chemical properties of the conveying medium. For conveying clean water or weakly corrosive sewage, cast iron is often used; For strong acids, strong bases or organic solvents in the fields of chemical engineering, electroplating, pharmaceuticals, etc., engineering plastics such as FRPP (reinforced polypropylene), PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride), CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) are commonly used. These materials have excellent corrosion resistance, temperature resistance (-15 ℃ to 60 ℃) and aging resistance, and have smooth surface and are not easy to scale.
Mechanical seal is the key to ensuring that the pump has no leakage. Vertical submersible long shaft sewage pumps commonly use dual channel series mechanical seals, consisting of two sets of hard alloy (such as tungsten carbide or titanium tungsten) sealing rings, forming an oil chamber in the middle, lubricated and cooled by sealing oil. This design can effectively prevent medium leakage even if the first seal fails due to wear and tear, ensuring that the pump can maintain high reliability even after continuous operation for more than 8000 hours. The selection of sealing materials should match the corrosiveness of the medium. For example, when transporting chloride ion containing media, tungsten carbide with higher corrosion resistance should be selected.
Liquid seal (V-ring) is an innovative structure designed specifically for corrosive media. It is a circular seal made of elastic material (such as fluororubber), installed between the pump shaft and the pump body. When the motor is running, centrifugal force causes the V-ring to open outward, forming a dynamic seal that blocks the rise of chemical gases; After shutdown, the V-ring relies on its own elasticity to automatically rebound, forming a static seal, completely cutting off the gas channel, and protecting the motor and bearings from corrosion. This design is particularly critical in scenarios such as exhaust gas scrubbing towers and etching lines.
Finally, as a power source, the motor is usually a three-phase asynchronous motor, and special protection is provided according to the working conditions. In corrosive environments, motor casings are often treated with epoxy resin coatings or explosion-proof motors are selected to adapt to flammable and explosive gas environments. Thermal sensitive components are also embedded inside the motor, which are linked with the external control cabinet to achieve automatic protection against overload and overheating.
